![]() How much impact had criticism on your career? ![]() We were out at the same time, we were around Michigan at the same time, but Grand Funk had more than national fame, a worldwide one the other bands had mostly regional.Įven the classic Grand Funk Railroad albums received some negative reviews when they were released. There are a lot of people who would like to tell their story and to be a part of this. I have a lot of involvement, but we are going to have other testimony from people who are friends of mine, people that I worked with, just to tell their story, to get the whole perspective.Ĭan you tell us the names of some of the musicians who will participate in? You know, I’m from a middle class family, I started a garage band which became very successful worldwide. How much involvement do you have in its production? In 2013 “I’m Your Captain: The Mark Farner Story” documentary will be released on PBS, and in theaters and film festivals worldwide. We were recording in Boston, Massachusetts as my good friend and agent, Joanna Codi helps me with the work to get these recordings done -a couple of songs- prior to the release of our movie, which is coming out on Public Television, PBS. He is currently working remotely with producer Mickelson in California on new music to be released in 2022.It was fantastic! The album garnered the attention of Reid Genauer who invited Tripp to open for Strangefolk at the Paradise Rock Club. Tripp eventually returned to the Northeast, and in 2018, released The Shape of the Island, produced by his good friend and collaborator Jay Psaros, to critical acclaim. After a year or two, he grew restless and took off – living, writing and performing in places as diverse as Texas, Colorado, Prescott, Utah, Michigan, and Virginia. It was there, in the land of enchantment, that Tripp found his voice and budding style as a folk/americana songwriter. He attended Northeastern University in Boston but soon transferred to the College of Santa Fe to pursue a degree in art. After moving back to the mainland, he grew up in Westport, MA but always dreamed of where he could live next. ![]() Born Carlin Hosmer Tripp on the small island of Nantucket, he spent the first years of his life breathing the salty air, exploring the island, and listening to records with his mom. He has continued to write and record ever since. After a brief stint with a local band, Tripp hit the road with his guitar for the Southwest and began that journey, releasing his first solo work, The Belfry EP, in 2010. Carlin Tripp began his musical journey in the early 2000’s with a borrowed acoustic guitar and a dream of becoming a songwriter and performer.
